Alice Ann Wurfel-Bennett, 74, of Elizabethtown passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at her home.

Everyone who knew Alice would always comment on what a wonderfully nice lady she was who had an infectious laugh. Alice was a very loving mother and wife who will be remembered for her devotion to her family and the kindness in her heart. Even in the last month of her life, she worried about everyone else. Everywhere she went, she always made a friend. All who not only loved her but also knew her will deeply miss her. Alice loved to eat out, shop and rent movies for home. Her favorite restaurant was Olive Garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse James and Ruby Agnes Armstrong Wurfel; and a sister, Joanne Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward Dale Bennett; her children, James Edward Bennett of Maidenhead, England, and Ann Michele Bowman of Elizabethtown; five granddaughters, Rhiannon Chillingworth, Camilla Shearer, Skye Bennett, Kali Bowman and Lily Bowman; and one great-grandchild, Storm Ivy Chillingworth. Alice also had special relationships with Carol Corbit, her best friend of 20 years, a sister-in-law, Shirley Bennett and Justin Marcum and Lora Corbit, who were like her children, all of Elizabethtown.

A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Justin Hornsby officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hardin County Animal Shelter.
