Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 13, for Charley Davis of 200 west Park street, Blair, whose death occurred April 11 in an Omaha hospital at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 12 days.

The deceased was born in Ohio and lived also in Missouri before coming to Nebraska to establish his home. By his first marriage he had seven children, four of whom survive. In 1928 he married Nancy Martin of Council Bluffs, who survives him. His children are Walter and Jess of this county, Oscar of Emerson, Nebr. and Mrs. Laura Mathieson of this county. There are also five stepchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and five sisters away from Blair.

Buried Wednesday Blair Resident Survived by Many Relatives


Charles Davis, 75, former Washington County resident and resident of Blair at 200 West Nebraska street since 1928, died Monday, April 11, in an Omaha hospital, where he had been taken for treatment April 2.

Born November 29, 1856, in Ohio, Mr. Davis when a youth moved, with his parents, to Missouri and in early manhood came to Nebraska, in which state he had since made his home. Before moving to Blair he farmed about four and one-half miles south of Herman.

Mr. Davis was married on New Years day, 1878, to Miss Lina Olson and to this union seven children were born. Two died in infancy, another, Annie, at the age of four, and the others survive him.

Mrs. Lina Davis died December 27,1924, and on February 8, 1928, Mr. Davis was married to Miss Nancy Martin of Council Bluffs.

Surviving him are the widow and children, Walter Davis, who lives near Spiker, Charles Davis, whose home is near Emerson, Jessie Davis, who farms south of Herman, and the daughter, Mrs. Laura Matthiesen, who also lives near Herman.

Also surviving Mr. Davis are four stepsons and one step-daughter. They are Fred Davis, Council Bluffs; Robert Davis of Iowa; Jesse Davis of Omaha; Lute Davis of Iowa, and Mrs. Emil Unmack of Missouri.

Two brothers and six sisters also survive Mr. Davis. They are Ed Davis, Maupin, Oregon; Frank Davis, Dunning, Nebr.; Mrs. Belle Embree, Boring, Ore.; Mrs. Lida Acorn, Oakdale, Cal.; Mrs. Mae Shibley, Hoaquim, Wash:; Mrs Mattie Walker of California, Mrs. Bertha Yowell Ditrich, Idaho, and Mrs. Kate McKinleys, address unknown.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. W. H. Jackson, pastor of the Methodist church officiating Interment was made in the Thone cemetery near Herman where the first Mrs. Davis is buried
