Funeral for Fern M. Batchelder, 71, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Robert Cousins officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mrs. Batchelder died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at her home in Garden City.

She was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Finney County, to John Quincy and Reva (Kells) Adams, and attended a country school in Finney County and Garden City High School.

On Sept. 27, 1948, she married Wilbur Batchelder at Garden City.

A lifetime resident of Finney County, she was a farmer/stockman. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, was a longtime volunteer at Emmaus House and also volunteered at the First United Methodist Clothing Center.

Her special interests were puzzles, crocheting and playing cards. She had a large Christmas village collection that she opened for senior citizen's tours and also collected Precious Moments, spoons and wooden boxes.

She is survived by a son, three daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
