EARLY SETTLER GONE

Anthony Healey, one of Knox county's oldest and honored citizens, passed away at the family home two and one-half miles west of Creighton last Tuesday afternoon, after an illness covering a greater part of twelve years.

Mr. Healey came to Knox county in the spring of 1876 and took up a homestead on which he resided up to the time of his death.

He was the father of ten children, all of whom were present st the bedside during his last hours, with the exception of Mike, who is located at Sheridan, Wyoming and two daughters, one at Yankton, S.D. and the other at Butte, Montana.

At the time Mr. Healey and family arrived in Knox county, twenty eight years ago, Creighton was but a mere burg. He was one of the carpenters, who helped build the flour mill at Bazile Mills.

About twelve years ago, Mr. Healey met with an accident, which had practically made him an invalid.

The deceased was born at Bellaua, Ireland, February 26, 1828 and was married in 1855 to Mary Kelly. During the year 1867, they came to America, locating at Scranton, Pa., where they resided for nine years, after which they moved to Knox county in the spring of 1876.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic church, Tuesday forenoon. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
