Death: Mar. 5, 1844

Originally buried in Lafayette City Cemetery (now Greenbush Cemetery, Sec 2, Lot 27, Range 3). Moved at some unknown date to Spring Vale Cemetery.

Ann D. (Nancy) Jenners was born in Loudoun Co., Virginia on April 18, 1813, the daughter of Abiel Jenners and his wife, Deborah (Young) Jenners. After her father's death in 1824, Ann moved west with her mother & siblings and the family settled in Lafayette, IN about 1829 when Nancy was 16. She married Peter S. Jennings on Dec. 30, 1834. Together they had the following children: Mary Virginia Jennings, Henry F. Jennings, James Jennings, and William M. Jennings.

Shortly after the birth of her son, William, in 1844, Nancy's son James was taken ill with a "putrid sore throat" and died. Nancy was taken ill and on March 5, 1844, Nancy also died. She was 30 years old.

Both her tombstone and her obituary say she died March 7. However, this tombstone is on her reburial in Spring Vale after her original burial in Greenbush. A family letter written by her brother, Saurin, dated March 6, says she died the day before. Review of the original burial records from Lafayette City Cemetery shows that March 7 was actually her burial date and suggests that this tombstone was made from cemetery records.
