His obituary M/Sgt. Martin's body to arrive..Husband of Vidor Woman was killed in Korea. The body of Master Sgt. James M. Martin 44, formerly of pipkin, LA and whose widow lives in Vidor will arrive here from Korea at 40:P28 o'clock this morning on the Southern Pacific railway.
Sergeant Martin who had served 17 1/2 years in the army, was killed in action in Korea July 16, 1950.
Services which probably will be Sunday afternoon, will be announce by Broussard mortuary.
Native of Pilkin, Mrs. Martin is employed in Beaumont by the Liberty Barber and Beauty Supply company.
A native of Pipkin, Sergeant Martin ws reared there and attended Pipkin schools. He was a farmer and cattle raiser before entering service in 1932.
He served with the First Cavalry division until 1943 when he entered the army war college, which he attended until September 1945. He was a veteran of World War II and most of his overseas duty was in Australia.
He was discharged after leaving the college but re-enlisted in June, 1946. He served with the Ffth cavalry in the army of occupation in Japan until February 1949.
To Japan in 1949, after a furlo8ugh home in 1949, Sergeant Martin returned to Fort Benning, Ga., and was assigned to Company D, Fifth infantry regiment, Second division.
He returned to Japan in August 1949, and was killed 12 days after reaching Korea on July 4, 1950.
Survivors include hi wife; one daughter Joyce Lou of Vidor and two sons, James M. and Bobby, both of Vidor; one sister. Mrs. Avery Wisby of High Island; two brothers, Maj. Vernon Martin of Forth Monmouth, N>J. and Archie Martin of Lake Charles, La.
