Kate Hildegarde Roderick (Rothrock?) was the third of seven known children of William Francis Rothrock (1841-1911) and Mary (went by Mamie) E. Klugh (1844-1887) who married in presumably South Carolina. It is not known where William or Mamie are buried.

Kate married Samuel (went by Sam) Major Benjamin (1868-1949) on 30 Dec 1890 at Coronoca, Greenwood County, South Carolina. Kate and Sam were the parents of four known children.

The many friends and relatives of Mrs S M Benjamin will be pained to learn of her death which occurred at her home near Quarry Sunday. She was sick for some time previous to her death. Mrs Benjamin was about 40 years old.

She was a good Christian woman and a member of the Baptist church. Survived by her husband and several children. Her sister, Mrs J C Sharpe lives in this city.
