Beverly--as she preferred to be called--was born to Earl Richard Shears (b. 1/30/1898 d. 11/2/1964 Elk Garden, WV) and Florence Anne Allender (b. 10/7/1902 Cross, WV d. April 1966) in Elk Garden W. VA, where she grew up with her three brothers Raymond, Kenneth, and Clifton and sister Mildred.

Upon graduation from high school, Beverly moved to Washington DC to work in the Pentagon where she typed orders for servicemen going over seas. She met her husband-to-be, John Thomas Green, typing his orders for him to go to Korea. They dated and married while she was still in Washington DC. They where married 30 years and then divorced in 1976. She had the opportunity to travel while her husband was in the Air Force for 30 years. She lived in many places including DC, Japan, Hawaii, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, New Mexico, and Texas.

She loved traveling, going to church, writing letters daily to her friends and family, and living her last days at different times with each of her four daughters: Rena Green Vignes, Barbara Green, Patricia Bowen, and Diana Alvarez. She left a legacy of 14 grandchildren and at least 26 great-grandchildren at the time of her passing.

Beverly was casket interred at Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio, Texas on Thursday April 11, 2013. Services were held at 2:00 PM.
