Mrs. Rearik's white sandstone stele is one of a minority in this churchyard inscribed in the English language. Born Anna Maria Weber in Germany, she and her husband, Conrad Rorich (aka Hans Conrad Rarick), arrived on American shores in September 1749. Their surname, originally Rorich, has been spelled Rarick, Rorick, Rearik, and Redrick, among other variations, "Rearik" being the version which appears on Ann/Anna's gravestone. Widowed in 1790, she died "in her 73rd year". TOPMOST GRAVESTONE PHOTO: Nikita Barlow, c.2002
