Leonard T. Thronson, 94, of Arbor Terrace, a former Dodge County farmer and retired psychiataric technician, died Sunday evening (July 16, 1995) at Olmsted Community Hospital. He had been ill three weeks.
Born June 25, 1901, in rural Hayfield, he grew up there and attended area country schools. From 1928 to 1931 he lived in Albert Lea. On June 17, 1931, he married Ida C. Mogen in Hayfield and they farmed in the Hayfield and Kasson areas for 21 years until moving to Rochester in 1954. Mr. Thronson was a psychiatric technician at the former Rochester State Hospital from 1954 until his retirement in July 1968 and then worked at McDonald's restaurants in Rochester. His wife worked at Dayton's for 20 years. He was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church and its Men's Club and Senior Fellowship group.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Leslie of Rochester; a grandson; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Atlanta Oliver and Blanche Thronson, both of Austin. Three brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zumbro Lutheran Church, with the church pastors co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Vine Funeral Home and an hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Zumbro Lutheran Church.
