The funeral for Margaret A. Benson will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Lester J. Horntvedt officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Mrs. Benson, 83, of Dodge Center, formerly of Rochester, died Saturday evening (Jan. 4, 1997) at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center where she had resided since February 1993.
Margaret A. Anderson was born Feb. 5, 1913, in St. Paul and grew up in Rock Dell Township, Olmsted County. She attended area rural elementary schools and Stewartville High School and lived in the Rock Dell area until her marriage. In July 1933 she married Rudy L. Benson in Hayfield. They lived in Hayfield until 1943 and then in Kasson until moving to Rochester in 1955. Her husband was Dodge County sheriff for 13 years. He died Jan. 8, 1993. Mrs. Benson worked in sales at Dayton's in Rochester for 20 years before her retirement in 1975. She was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald L. of Plymouth, Minn., and Gary D. of Rochester; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. An infant daughter preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vine Funeral Home in Rochester and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. There will be no reviewal.
