My dad was a good husband and father. A bit cynical, he had a wicked sense of humor. He liked sports, gardening, good food and walking the beach on the Delaware Bay.
Donald was born to Henry and Elizabeth Margaret (Kerr) Wiler in Erie, PA. He was the third of their surviving children.
He worked for Gulf Oil first in Philadelphia and then was transferred to Western Pa and worked in Harmerville, Pa until he retired around 1980. He and my mother retired to Cape May, NJ where he lived another nine years. He loved living at the shore and we all visited frequently!
My father loved photography and most of the other pictures of family were taken by him. He took "professional" photos of us when we were young and developed them himself. Everywhere we went, he had a camera around his neck!
At the time of his death, Dad was survived by two brothers and one sister, his wife (m Oct 12, 1946), three children and four grandchildren. Since that time, all his brothers and his only sister have now passed and one son (Donald John, Jr).
My dad was really only ill for one or two days and passed while at the hospital (age 71).
