Funeral service for Vivian 'Nana' Louise Dixon Tarpley will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Martin and Rev. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral home of Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Monday, January 25, 2010 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 8 AM until service time in the church.
Mrs. Tarpley, 72, of Many, La., died Friday, January 22, 2010, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Medical Center in Shreveport, La.
Mrs. Tarpley was a native of Capitan, NM. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lindsey Ramsey; two sisters, Patsy Rue and Mary Muse; four brothers, Russell Dixon, Rayford Dixon, Barney Dixon, and Charlie Dixon; parents, Henry Dixon and Althea Dixon.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Tarpley of Many, La.; one daughter, Karen Ramsey and husband Benny of Many, La.; two sons, Bruce Tarpley and wife Suzanne of Houma, La. and Richard Tarpley and wife Tiffany of Many, La.; four grandchildren, Jodi Ramsey, Justin Ramsey and wife Emilly, Samantha Procell and husband Adam, and Hunter Tarpley; two great-grandchildren, Jake Ramsey and Avaree Procell; one sister, Marie Woods of freemont, Ca.; one brother, Howard Dixon and wife Barbara of Fort Sumner, NM; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Tarpley, Justin Ramsey, James Tarpley, Phillip Tarpley, Jimbo Dickson, Adam Procell, John Lewing, Zach Murphy, Garrett Murphy, and Zack Peace.
