| Birth: | Sep. 3, 1854 | | Death: | Apr. 22, 1934 |  New Hampshire Govenror. A native of East Andover, New Hampshire, he devoted his life to agriculture. He was the state's first Secretary of the State Board of Agriculture. He had the post for twenty-six years, even holding it while Governor. He was active in the farmer's political movement commonly known as the Grange. He was Chairman of the group's National Execuitve Committee and became "Tenth Master of the National Grange". He served as Governor from 1903 to 1905. While Governor he sought to increase appropriations for the state's agricultural education initiatives and he repealed the state's fifty year old law prohibiting the sale of liquor. (bio by: Bigwoo)
