Vicente Gaos
Birth: Mar. 27, 1919
Death: Oct. 17, 1980

Poet and Literary Critic. He was born and died in Valencia. He was the brother of Philosopher José Gaos and poet Alejandro Gaos. He was a teacher of Spanish Literature in the United States from 1948 to 1956. Later, he returned to Spain, where he developed all poetic career. He is best remembered for his book "Profecía del Recuerdo." Other works include "Árcangel de mi Noche," "Sobre la Tierra," "Luz Desde mi Sueño," "Última Thule," "Mitos para un Tiempo de Incrédulos" and the essay "La Poética de Campoamor." He received the National Award of Poetry in 1980. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
