My dad was born in Detroit Michigan he was the oldest sybling of two girls and three boys, his parentsIrene Marie Nantais FleuryandDavid Charles Joseph Fleury from Belle River, Canada Ontario and Quebec. His syblings who are with him and his parents in Heaven are Bernice (Fleury)Raiche., Russel , Bertha (Fleury) Spinelli. He has another brother who is still with us here and lives in Saint Clair Shores Michigan, his name is Donald he is the youngest of five my grandmom had.
Dad, Leonard Joseph Fleury married our Mom Florence Jean Simpson on June 25, 1938 in Detroit Michigan.
Dad always loved to work around the Lakes, he worked at Jefferson Beach Marina in Michigan, as a Pile Driver for Pilings where the boats anchor up at, he Captained a few small crafts in his time . He had his own air and heating busness.

With our mom,Florence Jean Simpson Fleury, they had 7 children, Shirley Margaret(Fleury)(Pannett)(Weis),Irene Marie Fleury Young, Diane Joan(Fleury) Warlick,David Joseph Fleury, Charles Russel Fleury, Kathleen Maryann(Fleury) Bilbrey, and Carol Ann(Fleury) Selley, and scores of Grandchildren and a few greatgrandchildren.
He was called" Blue Pickeral" on the CB radio,he had a nickname for a few of his grandkids that I know of BusterBrown and Pea Soup ,and one of his kids, which is me he called "Blackiedpeas" or Kickkee ever since I was a little girl ,so I have used those two names on the CB radio or the internet and am proud to use them still. By the way my husband has a nicname too he got his in his workplace which was" Cornbread".
Dad loved to play Ucre ,a card game , every time his family all got together for barbeques and party's they would play cards .
He loved dogs, he had a few Dachunds or weiner dogs as I can remember growing up. and a few other kinds of dogs as pets.
When he could he bought fruit enough to make his own home made wines, I especially liked his dandelion wine,he made grape wine ,peach, and beet wine cherry wine and some others. I can also remember when I was a little girl Dad would go to the farms around our area in Mount Clemens and buy bushel baskets of vegetables and he and my mom would can vegetables for the winter months . I think he learned to can from his mom my grandma Irene Marie (Nantais) Fleury. He got tomatoes, green beans, corn on the cob, potatoes, beets, yellow beans, he would also can cabbage, I remember dad made something called souse or headcheese made of pork and we would eat it in sandwiches . He made pickle pigs feet. He even canned salmon after he went salmon fishing. We grew up in a big family and we had to eat alot of canned homemade stuff, which was very good thanks to my mom and dad and their parents teaching.
He loved to go Deer Hunting and Fishing,we had frozen venison during the winter months , and fresh fish alot even the tiny fish that looked like minnows called smelt.
He loved to do flower gardens . Dad bred and raised rabbits so we had meat from them also,we kids werent allowed to have them for pets tho . Altho I remember we had a duck at one point when I was a little girl and my sis Diane got attached to it and she called him Chipper, but dad was raising it so we could have it for a meal , and when one day Diane couldnt find it ,you guessed it our dinner was Chipper, and when sis found out she was so mad at dad she wouldnt talk to him for a long time and I remember her keeping the wishbone of Chipper and painting it with fingernail polish and keeping it along time I think into her married life . Well it seems she got over it finally, cause she eventially married a farmer and they had all the animals they could eat on the farm and I think ducks too . She had a big family herself and they had to eat also.
Dad was Mom's Caregiver the last year of his life, she was almost completely blind then and she couldnt walk around very well so he did the cooking and cleaning and he still drove the car to do errands for them bothe. My sis Carol the youngest of us seven kids helped out when she could when she wasnt working, and also a good friend of mom and dads, Judy Green would keep watch and help them bothe too. But dad's health suffered more with his worrying about mom toward the end of his time . He knew he wasnt going to leave the hospital the day sis and I had called for an ambulance to take him there . He looked me straight in the eyes in the emergency room, and cried , and told me he wasnt leaving the hospital and that Carol and I had to help Mom from then on. I promised him we would , about a few days later Mom went into the hospital also and actually they were across the hall from each other, dad was getting worse and we had to finally put him in a nursing home not too long after he was in the hospital. And on one night after sis and I got back from the hospital she went home up the street from mom & dads trailer , and I stayed at the trailer to help care for their bird & dog. I went outside and stood and looked up in the starry sky and watched a shooting star and all of a sudden I was watching my first Northeren lights of my life, they were so beautifull but yet weird to me with all the swirling around they were doing. I didnt want to stop watching them and for some reason I felt calm after all the excitement that had happened with mom and dads sickness . I felt that it was a calming omen of what was to come with the deathe of our dad.
So sis and I were bothe going from the hospital to the nursing homes and sis's home in and around Au Gres and Tawas City and Standish Michigan till we finally could bring mom home .Then a week passed after the Northeren Lights put on their show and dad passed away, and sis Carol and I kept up the caregiver help to our mom till she had to go into a Hospital nursing facility also. And Mom's was another story too.
I believed that dad was where he had to go to be with his family and ancestors .
We miss you Dad and love you still, untill we meet in the hereafter . Dad died of Serosus of the liver and also emphasyma, he had once had some heart surgery too and artery surgery for blockage. Dad was a heavy drinker and a smoker till about 2 years before he passed away.

One must go and one be left
The lonely road to tread
There comes a day when all must face
The path that lies ahead
Knowing that the best is over
With a loved one gone
There seems no point in going on
But time is kind, the passing years
Their balm of healing bring
And like a bird at winter's end
The heart begins to sing
We come at last to realize
Death breaks the earthly tie
But love survives when grief has passed
For love can never die.

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...

Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
