Just Out of Army, Killed in Runaway
Floyd Higgins, 41, Fatally Hurt As Team Bolts At Craig Farm

Only two months after he was released from the army under the maximum age clause, Floyd Higgins, 41 was fatally injured last week in a runaway at the Elbert Coley farm near Craig.
Higgins died in an Omaha hospital, and funeral services were held last Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Craig, burial following in Craig Cemetery. The American Legion, of which he was a member, had charge of graveside rituals, and six soldiers served as pallbearers.
Mr. Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Higgins, was born in Dakota County, March 23, 1902, and was raised and attended school in Washington and Burt Counties. He was inducted into the army last July, and received his honorable discharge March 9.
Surviving Mr. Higgins are his mother; a stepfather, at Craig; two brothers, Ivan and Basil, and two half-brothers, Everett and Dallas, all of Belle Plaine, Ia.
