Modiste Edison Gardipee, 93
Modiste E. Gardipee, age 93, of Tekamah, died Tuesday, May 30, 1989, at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair, Nebraska, after a lengthy illness.
Modiste was born on November 23, 1895, near Elk Point, South Dakota, to John B. and Clarina (Cheeley) Gardipee. The family came to Tekamah in 1907 and Modiste worked with his parents on their farm near Tekamah and Craig. He retired from a life-long career of farming around 1962. Modiste was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah.
He married Mary L. Mason on March 20, 1918, at Mary's parents' home in Tekamah.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Gardipee of Blair; one son, Carrol D. Gardipee of Craig; two grandchildren; one brother, Milton Gardipee of Greeley, Colorado; nieces and nephews.
Modiste was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Buena Robinson, 1918.
Funeral Services was June 2 at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoel officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery.
