Found in The State 19 February 1956: Charles Wesley McLemore, 66, of 305 Nevada St., died at his home early yesterday morning. He was born in Chesterfield, a son of the late Minnie Pitts McLemore and Frank McLemore and had made his home in Columbia for the past 55 years where he owned and operated the McLemore Barber Shop. Mr. McLemore was a member of the Whaley Street Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Minnie Tallon McLemore; four daughters; Mrs. W. S. Gordon of Newberry; Mrs. Charleena Arledge, Mrs. W. D. Byars and Mrs. Dillard Jaco, all of Columbia; three brothers, Ed McLemore and Henry McLemore, both of Columbia; Amos McLemore of West Columbia; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the Whaley Street Methodist Church at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. W. Ralph Carter, the Rev. W. Lloyd Hellams, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, and the Rev. Henry S. Wingard, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers who will meet at Dunbar Funeral Home at 3:30, will be Clarence Wilson, R. G. Amick, J. E. DuBose, Algier F. Davis, Clarence Davis and O. P. Elkins. Honorary pallbearers who will meet at the church at 4 o'clock will be Dr. W. E. Fulmer, H. Moody Henry, Virgil Q. Denny, T. H. Jaco, Earle Davis, D. E. Davis Sr., J. E. Hilliard, W. F. Young, F. I. DuBose, Colie Perry, Henry Kirkland, John Hawkins, J. P. Spigener, W. J. Hodge, Walter C. Roberts, Doyle Jaco, Henry Cornelius, members of the Young Men's Bible Class and stewards of the Whaley Street Methodist Church.
