ROCKFORD - Mildred "Millie" S. Blake, 90, of Rockford died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006 in Swedish American Hospital, after a long illness. Born March 11, 1915 in Union, to Bruce and Agnes (Harris) Jones. Married Herbert E. Blake in Rockford on June 6, 1937. Attended First Evangelical Free Church, P.E.O. Chapter N.J. 50-year member and former Outlook Club member. Used to be in plays at Court Street United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of Mary Martha Circle at First Evangelical Covenant Church, where she gave devotional times.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert; daughters, Marilyn Allington of Rockford and Sharon (Robert) Bushby of Minooka; grandchildren, Kim (Stephen) Seth of Lake Jackson, Texas, Diane Allington of Rockford, John (fiancee, Jackie) Blake of Joliet and Shelley Allington of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Austin, Nathan, and Abigail Seth; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; and brother, Laurence.
Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Road, with Pastor Chuck Rife officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday in the church. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., 1001 Second Ave. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
