Funeral services were held for Joseph Peter Waters at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro, North Dakota, Tuesday, December 7 at 11:00 a.m. A prayer service was held the preceding evening at the Wildeman Chapel, and the parish priest, Rev. Father Julius Binder officiated at both services and at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Waters was born at Massena December 3, 1890, the son of John and Louise Curry Waters. He grew to manhood in the Massena area, and came to North Dakota with other members of the family in 1917, and farmed in Bohnsack Township.
On July 14, 1921 he was united in marriage to Della Johnson of Kelso, and they continued to farm in Bhnsack and later in Kelso Township. They moved to Hillsboro in 1954 and resided there since.
He had been in failing health the past several months and entered the Hillsboro Community Hospital October 14 where he passed away December 4, one day after his 86th birthday.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Bennie; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Beverly) Sween and Mrs. Vernon (Marvis) Johnson, all of Hillsboro; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Julia) Maeder of Orient, Iowa and Mrs. Arthur (Louise) Preston of Hillsboro, North Dakota, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, parents, and a daughter, Frances.
