Boxer Rebellion Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. During the China Relief Expedition, he served as a Private, in the United States Marine Corps, at Tientsin, China. On June 20, 1900, while crossing the river in a small boat under heavy fire, he assisted in destroying buildings occupied by the enemy resulting in the success of the mission.
