Boxer Rebellion Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. During the China Relief Expedition, he served as a Private, in the United States Marine Corps, at Tientsin, China. On June 20, 1900, while crossing the river in a small boat under heavy fire, he assisted in destroying buildings occupied by the enemy resulting in the success of the mission. His citation was issued on March 22, 1902, by President Theodore Roosevelt and accredited to the State of California. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
