George W. Archibald, son of Robert and Matilda Archibald, was born February 17, 1872 in Davis County, IA, and passed away March 14, 1950 at the Memorial hospital in Torrington, WY, at the age of 78 years and 25 days.
He went to Phillips County, KA, in 1904, where he was engaged in farming.
On December 22, 1905 he was united in marriage to Mary Roberts to Alma. To this union six children were born, four daughters and two sons.
Mrs. Hazel Gardner of Yoder, WY, Mrs. Blanche Davis of Hawk Springs, WY; Mrs. Goldie Lamb, Berkley, CA; Mrs. Louise Davis of Torrington, WY, and Everet of Canoga Park, CA. Walter preceded him in death in the European theater of war on February 24, 1945.
In 1922 he moved near Naponee where he continued farming until 1940 when he retired on account of ill health and moved to Franklin.
He went to Torrington, WY, in 1943 where he resided at his home at 2209 West "D" Street until his death.
Other survivors besides his wife and five children and seven grandchildren are his sister, Mrs. Minnie McClurg of Torrington, WY; three brothers, EDD of Almena, KA; Pearl of Coatsville, MO; Ray of Floris, IA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 17 at Colyer's mortuary at Torrington. Burial was made in Valley View cemetery at Torrington, WY.
