John Wesley Jones, son of George Buchanan Jones and Rebecca Ann McGee, was born February 20, 1894, in Stewart County, Tennessee. He was the last child of nine children; James Henry, Mary Ann (twin), Martha (twin, died infant), Callie Florence, William Elbert, Sam, Thomas Jefferson, Charlie Armstrong and John Wesley. James Henry died young lad 3 year old, Mary Ann married an Outland, William Elbert died 2 year old, Thomas Jefferson married Rosa Lee Berry from Benton County, Charlie Armstrong married Hanna Cox, and John Wesley never married.

He served his country in World War I as did his brother Thomas Jefferson. He lived and farmed with his father. Becky Ann his mother died Aug 1908, when John was fourteen years old. His father married Elizabeth Durdin Berry in 1909, mother of four living children. George and Elizabeth had a daughter Mary Frances Jones, born in 1911. Later he lived in a small house next to his father's home, but did eat with the family. The Jones family were members of the Standing Rock Methodist Church.

John Wesley died Oct 20 1982, and could be buried in the Standing Rock Cemetery.
