Notes: Fl. Of. Ray along with 9 other crew of B-24M # 44-50656 appear as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea
Tablets of the Missing at East Coast Memorial New York City, USA.
Although over 1000 bombers of all three 8th AF heavy divisions attack targets over Germany on this date and several B24's are lost, it does not appear that this crew was lost in combat.
Since none of these airman belong to a specific squadron or have any medals or awards and since 6 are corporals usually the rank of ground echelon it is probable that this crew were being sent to ETO as replacements and were killed when the ship was lost at sea in the Atlantic while in transit. Their bodies not recovered.
