|Death: ||Oct. 26, 1840|
Born in North Carolina (some records say 1785), the eldest child of John and Elizabeth Lee Cryer, she married Roland (Rowland) C. Dare in Rockingham, NC about 1803. They had nine known children. She died before both her parents and her husband. Records spell her name both Elenor & Elinor.
The family moved through the Cumberland Gap and lived in pioneer circumstances in what became several states, certainly KY, AL and IL. They appear in the 1820 Federal Census in IL. The children are:

Elinor and Roland's graves have not been located, although family records and Dare family genealogist M. Doris Provart Gower (2005) say they died in Jefferson Co. IL and are buried here.
Mason Cemetery, Elk Prairie Township of Jefferson Co. is one of several cemeteries in the area which are in total disarray with many stones toppled and broken and buried.
Elinor Cryer Dare, Roland Dare, Ruth Cryer Martin Bradburn, Mary Genetta Bradburn Dare and several others whose graves cannot be located may all be here or in other cemeteries which were removed (unidentified) from the land now covered by Rend Lake.
Several children are buried in Wolf Prairie Cem.
Corrections are welcome.
