Michael L. Englehart, 48 of Irwin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2009 in Excel Health Hospice Unit at Jeannette surrounded by his family. He was born February 20, 1961 in Jeannette a son of Jane (Rogers) Renn and Earl C. Englehart, Jr. He was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Jeannette. Michael was a dedicated community volunteer, often helping with distribution at the Westmoreland County Food Bank in Jeannette, coaching youth basketball and flag football. Michael was also a past president of the Jeannette Jaycees and ran the annual Haunted House in Jeannette for many years. Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, Amy (Larimer) Englehart of Irwin, two children, Melissa and Benjamin Englehart of Irwin, his mother and step-father, Jane and Edward Renn of Greensburg, his father, Earl C. Englehart, Jr. of Chester, VA, a sister, Jamie (Steven) Tammariello of Oswego, NY, three brothers; Douglas (Cindy) Englehart of Greensburg, Wyatt (Janna) Englehart of Monroe, NC, Earl (Pam) Englehart III of Frederick, MD,sister-in-law Penny (Mark) Walker of Level Green, father-in-Law, Glenn "Jake" Larimer of Jeannette, best friend Randal Macalus of North Huntingdon and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his grandparents, Michael was preceded in death recently by his mother-in-law, Nancy Larimer. Friends will be received 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, and 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday at the at the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, Inc., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. A funeral service will be held Thursday, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Edwin Fromm officiating. Private interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
