Wanda E. Gulley, 85, of Dresden, Ohio died Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2013 at her home. Born July 3, 1927 in Nelsonville, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Parry) Bateman and was a 1945 graduate of Nelsonville High School. Mrs. Gulley was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Nelsonville. She was also a member of the Sorosis Literary Club of Dresden. She was very active in volunteering with both the Girl Scouts and the United Way. She was also a volunteer at Bethesda Hospital for many years. Wanda enjoyed working crossword puzzles and she loved to bake and decorate cakes, having made many wedding and birthday cakes over the years. Surviving is her husband of over 66 years, Donald R. Gulley whom she married September 29, 1946, two daughters, Daune (Paul) Prince of Dresden and Dianne (Tom) Williams of Trinway; a son, Richard Gulley of Pataskala, Ohio, six grandchildren, Jeri (Chad Whitnell) Prince, Rick (Kim) Prince, Angie (Steve) Pickens, Ryan (Rebecca) Williams, Kory (Nelson) de Oliveira and Kyle (Courtney) Gulley; nine great grandchildren, Amanda, Alyssa, Ian, Ethan, Emma, William, Keegan, Ellie and Colton; one great great grandchild, Peyton; a sister, Rachel Kerr of Athens, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Andrew Prince; two sisters, Mary Jane Bateman and Anna McMillan; four brothers, Phillip, Ronald, Guy and Parry Bateman and two half-brothers, Leonard and Earl. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be at 1:00pm Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street with the Rev. Greg Inboden officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 2225 Citygate Drive; Suite E, Columbus, Ohio 43219.
