Joan Geraldine Schumann was born July 25, 1931 in Ayrshire, Iowa the daughter or Merle and Lois (Ricke) Schumann. As an infant she was baptized and later confirmed.
Growing up, she attended school in Sulphur Springs where she graduated in 1953.
On July 17, 1948, Joan was united in marriage to Donald L. Myers in Spencer, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with five children: Robert, John, Gary, Deanna, and Shari.
Joan was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake where she belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Eastern Star, United Commercial Travelers, and a card club.
In her spare time, Joan loved cooking, singing, and playing cards. Throughout her younger years, she enjoyed cross-stitching and quilting. Family and friends were very important to Joan and she thoroughly enjoyed visiting her family. Joan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Robert (Shelley) Myers; John (Judy) Myers of Denver, Colorado; Gary (Diane) Myers of Des Moines, Iowa; Deanna (David) Reed of Early, Iowa; Shari (Michael) Shiber of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren: Brielle Myers, James Myers, Beth Myers (Jason Vendryes), Leslie Myers (Jesse Hogue), Tracey Eddy, Amy (Don) Eddy, Jeanne Eddy, Alisha (Steve) Manuel, Austin, Garret, and Ian Reed, Alyssa, Alexis, and Ashley Shiber; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Susan (Ron) Peterson of Paducah, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Barb Movall of Storm Lake, Iowa; nieces; nephews; extended family and many friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Myers; and one brother-in-law, Ray Movall.
