Irene Marcella (Zwiener) Wakefield, 93, passed away at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

She was born October 9, 1919 in Blooming Prairie to Frank Zwiener and Hansena Mayland Zwiener. She was a homemaker who was an avid bowler and kitchen worker at St. Augustine Church in Austin. Irene loved square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her husband Keith in 1992, grandson Mike Drommerhausen and granddaughter Lori Drommerhausen. She is survived by daughters: Jan Butts, Beth (Alan) Hughson, and Judy (Dick) Wozney, grandchildren: Larry (Heather) Drommerhausen, Robert Butts, Brian (Terrye) Butts, Scott (Amy) Hughson, Amy (Jason) Smith, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Austin.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Prairie Manor Activities Fund.
