Kenneth E. Hann, aged 40 of Poland, OH. was fatally injured at 5 PM Wednesday when he was crushed in the mechanism of a revolving crane at the Standard Slag Co.'s Republic Steel plant. He died in South Side unit of Youngstown Hospital two hours later.
Mr. Hann, who was employed by Standard Slag was a maintenance man, was substituting as a brakeman on the crane. Standard Slag executives said they are unable to explain how he got caught except that "he didn't see the crane revolve.: He had been employed by the company more than 15 years.
Mr. Hann was born Nov 1, 1903 in Stockport, OH. He attended Poland Methodist church and was a member of Argus Masonic Lodge No. 545 of Canfield and Scottish Rite bodies.
He leaves his wife, Eleanor Belknap Hann; three children, Myron, Jack, and Nancy Lou at home; two brothers, C F Hann of Charleston, W.Va, and Charles D. of Youngstown; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Sampson of Waterford, OH., and Mrs. Olive Farson of Dexter City, OH.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at the CL Thompson Funeral Home, where friends may call from 7 to 9 PM today and Friday.
