Elsie Lee Garren Wilburn, age 90, widow of Russell Wilburn, of Madisonville, passed away peacefully at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Sweetwater Hospital. Member of Chestua Baptist Church. Known for and welcomed everyone with a sweet smile and humble spirit. Enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning and singing in the church choir. She was an important part of the family business at the Heart of Gold Wedding Chapel & Leslie Cove Rentals of Gatlinburg.
Survivors, daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Kenneth R. Leslie, Maryville; grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Sarina Wilburn, John and Elin Wilburn, Courtney and Kevin Schaefer, all of Madisonville; great-grandchildren, Shelby Wilburn, Shayne Wilburn, Kassidy Wilburn, Gabe Wilburn, Sidney Wilburn, and Hagen Schaefer; sister, Louise Abernathy, Madisonville; brothers, Joe Garren, Riceville, and Austin Garren, Englewood; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by son, Harold (Dobb) Wilburn; parents, Elbert and Ester Steele Garren; sister, Wanda; brothers, Wesley, Billy, Glenn, and Junior.
Funeral 8 p.m. Saturday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. B.J. Wall and Rev. Bruce Poplin officiating. Interment 1 p.m. Sunday, McClellan Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
