BURNS FATAL TO JOHN P. DALY, 70

FORMER COUNTIAN DIES IN BENSON AFTER INJURED IN HOME BLAZE

Burned in a rubbish fire in the basement of his home in Benson last Wednesday night, John P. Daly, 70, former Washington county resident, died Thursday night. He had been rescued after being burned about the face and hands, and overcome by smoke as he tried to put out the fire. Damage to the house was slight.

A neighbor girl, aged 4, heard Mr. Daly’s cries and summoned her father to his aid.

Before moving to Omaha ten years ago, Mr. Daly had farmed near Blair, DeSoto and Fort Calhoun for many years. He once resided in the Maney district.

Mr. Daly was sexton at St. Bernard’s Catholic church in Benson. Services were held there Monday morning, interment following in Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Omaha.

Surviving him are his wife, Margaret; three brothers, Thomas and Daniel of Omaha and Denis of Cleveland, Ohio; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Patterson of Blair, Mrs. Katherine Fogarty of Greely and Mrs. Clara Dunnigan of Omaha.
