GOLDIE MAE CASTOR

Goldie Mae Castor, of Carthage, Missouri, the oldest of eight children born to the late Joshua and Vida Bell (Blazer) Joiner, was born September 10, 1915 in Marshfield, Missouri. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at the St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage, MO., at the age of 90 years.
In 1932 Goldie was united in marriage to Merrill McGowen and to this union two children were born, Charles Lee and Gladys Colleen.
In October 1961 she married Harvey Castor, which gave her a step-son Gene.

She worked for eight years for Johnson Cleaners, operated Park Cafe for three years, and for several years was the head cook at Carthage High School.
Goldie had accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Elmer Merrill McGowen and Harvey Castor; a son, Charles Lee McGowen; two brothers Lynn Joiner and Wesley "Jim" Joiner; three sisters, Elsie Mae Joiner, Lavita Andreatta and Jessie Hosina.

Goldie is survived by her daughter, G. Colleen Hood and husband Wayne of Sarcoxie, Missouri; four grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Kim Hood of Neck City, MO., Brenda and Tim Patrick of Carthage, Missouri and Barbara and Todd Stafford of Carthage, MO., Shonda and Nathan McClure of Nicholasville, Kentucky, her great grandchildren; Jeremy Hood, Jennifer Galla, Tyler Hood, Cody Hood, Jordan Hood, Lendall Patrick, Logan Patrick, Landon Patrick, Lynae Patrick, Patrick, Dillan Stafford, and Dalton Stafford.

Funeral services for Goldie Mae Castor are at 10:00 am Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage, Missouri with Reverend Tom Armstrong officiating.

Burial will follow in the Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. Goldie's nine great grandsons will honor her life by serving as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the personal care and arrangements and direction of the Housh Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, MO.
