Thomas VanLuvender Sr., 71, of East Stroudsburg passed away Monday evening March 4, 2013, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born in Pittston, PA; on May 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Arch and Mae (Lidy) Van Luvender. Tom attended the East Stroudsburg school system. He worked many years as a construction worker for James D. Morcy Road Construction. He later worked at and retired from DiverseyLever a chemical company, in East Stroudsburg, as a packer in 2007.
Thomas had a passion for hunting and fishing and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar in some of the local bands.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is his loving wife Shirley M. VanLuvender who passed away on April 8, 2010, grandson, Lee VanLuvender, three sisters, Francis Murman, Irene Fritz and Peg Hopkins; and all of his brother-in-laws.
Thomas is survived by his loving son, Thomas VanLuvender Jr, and his fiancée Tami Simone of Saylorsburg; two granddaughters, Christy VanLuvender, of Stroudsburg and Amber VanLuvender of Bartonsville; Great Grandchildren, Sean VanLuvender, of VA; and Myles McCormick, of Stroudsburg; sisters, Betty Kishel, of Pittston,PA; Dot Slezak, and Wilma Web, of Little Lake, NJ; Joan Tuthill, of Stroudsburg; Gloria Sobrinski, of East Stroudsburg; Gladys Cannon, of Arizona; and Carol Whitmore, of Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 7, 2013 at 12:00 p.m in the Lanterman &Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg with Pastor Sharmune Burgess of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church officiating . Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.
A public viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday March 7, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
