ALFRED LANIER SMITH, 66, of Covington, Tenn., retired construction supervisor, died of heart failure Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with burial in Walton Cemetery. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Smith, the husband of Virginia B. Smith, also leaves two daughters, Anita Smith Fleming of Brighton, Tenn., and Judy Smith Melton of Covington; four sons, Joseph L. Smith, Alfred L. Smith Jr., William W. Smith and Robert W. Smith, all of Covington; two sisters, Dorothy Bringle of Covington and Sarah Goforth of Brighton; two brothers, James Herman of Brighton and George T.
