Goldie Ziegler was born on July 17, 1913, in Ocheyedan, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Clara (Huge) Dannaman. She lived her youth in the Ocheyedan area, where she attended school and graduated from high school.
She married Louis Young of Ocheyedan, Iowa, in May of 1931.
She married Lee Ziegler of Varina, Iowa, on June 1, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in Arizona, where Goldie candled eggs. They lived in California, where she worked in a hospital kitchen. In 1966, they retired, and in 1971, moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa. Lee passed away on June 5, 1994. Goldie moved to Badger, Iowa, north of Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1998, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She later moved to Fort Dodge Tompkins Health Center, where she passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2006.
Goldie enjoyed sewing, her angel collection, watching and feeding birds, and baking. Banana cream pie was her specialty.
She will be remembered as a very sweet person and strong willed. She would never give up.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter: Donna Brown of Fort Dodge, IA; 5 grandchildren: Greg Brown, Mark Brown, Scott Brown, Rod and Deb Brown, Chrystal Rasmuson, all of Fort Dodge, IA; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Lee; her parents; two brothers: Martin and Clarence; one sister: Amanda.
