She was born in Baraboo on November 7, 1920, the daughter of Chester and Erma Butterfield. Her family moved to Madison where she graduated from East High School. Lorraine worked at Rayovac and Madison Dairy.
She married Merton Holtan from Morrisonville on February 15, 1947. Her and Merton moved to Sun Prairie to start the family farm, and later moved it to the Norway Grove area. Lorraine loved to play cards, especially Sheepshead and Euchre. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, fishing and bowling. She was active in the DeForest community and was a charter member of Norway Grove Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Fisher, and her children, Zandra, Becky (John), and Ernest; her son, Lynn (Char) Holtan, and their children, Christopher, Adam, Micah (Kris), Sondra, and Sadie (Cody); and her daughter, Faye (Butch) Bollig, and their daughter, Tori (Tim); her grandchildren, Casey (Karla) and Tracy (Dwayne); a son-in-law, Larry (Brenda); and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton; a daughter, Sharon; grandchildren, Cheryl and Shaun; and her siblings, Arthur, Robert and Jeanette.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at NORWAY GROVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 820 River Road, DeForest, with the Rev. Ron Strobel presiding.
Burial will follow at Norway Grove Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
