William Thomas Kearney, 88, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Iowa Falls, passed away on April 15, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was a retired school superintendent. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Iowa Falls. He was born on March 4, 1921 in Sanborn to Edward and Addie Kearney. He graduated from Ocheyedan High School with the Class of 1939. He married Doris Sara Sturgis on March 8, 1943 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his son, Thomas Kearney of Solon; his daughter, Mary Claassen of Swisher; and three grandchildren.
