|Birth: ||Jun. 13, 1842|

Daughter of John and Mary R. Ewing McMackin. Emmer was only a few months old when her father died from drinking bad milk. When she was 4 years of age, her mother remarried to Townsend Richards in Wayne county. A sister, Louise, and a half-sister, Sarah Richards, died young, while a half-brother, John Townsend Richards, survived Emmer by about 16 years.
Emmer married Harrison Mount in Wayne county, Illinois about 1862. Marriage records for Wayne county were destroyed by arson in 1888, so a clear record of their marriage may be difficult to find (widow's pension papers, perhaps). However, Harrison was listed as married when he enlisted in August 1862. Furthermore, the 1870 US census shows that daughter Mary was born about 1863, followed by brother Francis about 1867 - consistent with Harrison's 3 years of service during the war. The names of 10 children can be found in various census records. Their dates and places of birth indicate the family moved to Kansas during the mid to late 1870's.
Emmer's place and date of death have not been confirmed. She was still living as of the 1920 US census of Republican City taken on 14 January 1920. A number of posted family tree files state she died on 1 February 1920, weeks after that census. It is assumed she was buried with her husband, and possibly other family members, in this cemetery.
