Jacob Noel was born in 1772 or 1773 in York or Adams Co., Pa., a second son of Andrew Noel and Theresa Dillon Noel.

Jacob married Catherine Grainer (or Grammer or Graimer) at Conewago Chapel, Adams County, PA, on April 14, 1799 (Catherine was 16). They became the parents of seven: five sons and two daughters.

Jacob was a resident of Menallen township from 1800 to 1823 when he moved with his family (except for daughter Hannah) to the Chestnut Ridge, Ligonier township, Westmoreland County, PA. Here, he rented the former cabin of General Arthur St. Clair, which had been empty since 1818, when General St. Clair died. Jacob purchased the property together with 254 acres in 1830.

Jacob died in 1847 or 1848.
