Patrick Nagel
Birth: 1945
Ohio, USA
Death: Feb., 1984
California, USA

Patrick Nagel was a hugely successful graphic designer whose influential works defined the sleek, colorful styles of the 80's. His bright colorful works outlined by bold dark lines which created what was known as "the Nagel woman" the glamorous, modern quintessential woman of the 80's who's influences went far beyond that decade.
Best known for his album cover for Duran Duran's Rio album his works also appeared in Playboy, Architectural Digest, Rolling Stone, and Harpers.

Described as "an elegant, stylish man with the weirdest sense of humor I had ever encountered." by Karl Bornstein of Mirage Editions and "generous almost to a fault," by Playboy's Hugh Hefner , Patrick Nagel was an artist with no pretense who never let fame go to his head.
He died of a heart attack in 1984 at the age of 38.

Patrick, let me just go ahead and say that you are one of my favorite artists ever to have existed, and that despite having been born thirteen years after your death, you continue to inspire me and my life as an aspiring artist; I wish you were still here...(Read more)
