age 91, William Died in Kansas City

Obituary from the Sterling Kansas Bulletin, March 3, 1921
Louise Daniels was born in the state of Connecticut, Feb. 18,1830, and passed away Feb. 19, 1921, being just four hours passed her 91st year. During her nineteenth year she was married to William Merrell, who preceded her in death a little more than seven years ago, to which union were born three children: Henry W. Merrell, at whose home in Kansas City Mrs. Merrell passed away; Mrs. Viola L. Eaton, of San Jose, California, and Rev. Frank Merrell, of Seneca, Ill., all of whom survive. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Merrell was a woman of remarkable character. During the four years that her husband was in the army she cared for her three small children, keeping up the farm among the timber in southern New York in a manner that would be a credit to a strong man. After the close of the war when Major Merrell had again been restored to his family, they made their way to Lee county, and in 1877 moved to Reno county, Kansas, where they remained most of the time until July, 1901, when they moved to Santa Clara county, California. After the death of her husband in September, 1913, she made her home with her children, first with Mrs. Eaton in California, then with Frank in Illinois, and last May she went to Kansas City, where her son Henry and family cared for her in the best possible manner, granting her every wish and desire, and during her final illness which lasted nearly nine weeks she was cared for in the most tender and solicitous manner.
Funeral services were conducted from the Rose Undertaking Parlors on 15th St., in Kansas City, at 3 P.M. Sunday. Dr. Arnold, pastor of East Side Presbyterian church was in charge, and his discourse was filled with hope and cheer for the bereaved ones, repeating a great deal of scripture from memory.
Both her sons and also her granddaughter, Mrs. Frank Ritcha, accompanied her remains to Sterling, where she was laid to rest beside the body of her husband, on Monday morning, Feb. 21, at nine o'clock. Rev. Hinshaw, an old and highly esteemed friend of the family, had charge of the services.
Mrs. Merrell was converted when quite young and united with the Methodist church and remained a thorough, consistent Christian all during her long life. During her last illness she said, "I do not pray to get well. Neither do I pray to go, but I am in the Lord's hands and when He sees fit to take me it will be all right with me."
