Ruth entered Rice University and then later graduated an honor student. She was then hired by Shell Oil Company and retired 55 years later. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Meldrum Sydney Young. Survived by her brother, Richard Doss and wife, Naomi; sister, Grace Burris; niece, Beverly Weatherall and husband, Edwin; nephews, Mark Burris and wife, Barbara, Matt Burris and wife, Gail, Parr Doss and wife, Gizelle, Clifford Doss and wife, Linda, Duncan and wife, Susan.
