Born in The Kingdom of Prussia during the North German Confederation near the town of Görlitz, in the Schlesien or Silesia Province. Came to America in 1872 when he was 9 years old, with his parents and 5 siblings. His eldest sibling, William "Bill" Frenzel came to America 3 years before to homestead a farm in Nebraska. He purchased farmland, choose a home site, laid the stone foundation, and with the help of a carpenter, built a house and barn preparatory to their arrival. The family crossed the Atlantic in the large freighter "Germania", landing in New York Harbor on May 23 of 1872. They traveled by railway train to Nebraska City, NE and arrived there June 12, 1872. They settled on the farm in Otoe county, NE near the town of Berlin (present day Otoe) 11.5-miles NW of Nebraska City.

Herman married Amelia MITZNER of Paul, NE, the daughter of Edward and Caroline (BECCARD) MITZNER. (Amelia was a sister to August Frederick BECCARD, who was Herman's sister, Augusta Frenzel's first husband.) The Herman and Amelia Frenzel family lived on a farm in the Dunbar Community, starting in 1899 where they raised their family and successfully farmed. Their children were Caroline, Walter, Margaret and Ralph.

Herman gained USA naturalization citizenship on March 9, 1914

When his father Traugott died, his mother came to live in his home with his wife Amelia from 1903-1912. His mother was cared for in his home until she died. Herman was the executor of his parents' estate. He suffered a stroke while farming and they moved to Nebraska City, NE.

Here is the obituary from the Nebraska City newspaper.

Herman O Frenzel, 65, resident of Otoe county for more than half a century, died at his home, 10th street and Sixth Corso, late Monday following a stroke of paralysis. He had been in failing health for a number of years.

He was born in Germany, September 8, 1862. At 10 years of age, he came to the United States with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Traugott Frenzel, who engaged in farming northwest of Nebraska City, and he had since made his home in the county.
