Joy Ellen King Means, of Pennsylvania and Tampa, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born in Hillsdale, Indiana County, Pa., on Dec. 11, 1912, to Besse V. Smith and the Rev. William B. King. Mother of Gail (Pope) Bossart of Morgantown.
Joy's family thanks all those in Morgantown who contributed to her care during the last two years of her life, including Madison Rehab & Nursing; Suites at Heritage Point; Evergreen Assisted Living; Mon. General Hospital; all her doctors; and friends.
Memorial service will be conducted by Pastor David King Means at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, in First United Methodist Church, 106 North St., West Newton, Pa.
Burial beside her husband, Charles Milton Means (1909-1976) in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown. Charles was youngest son of W.H. Means, MD and Sibyl Carrol of Percy.
She is survived by four children: Milton W. (spouse Jean Sisler of Bruceton Mills), Gail E. (Pope) Bossart (spouse Steven), Mary Ellen Neumeister and David K. (spouse Doris Dash); seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Mae Williams, and brothers, Leonard E. and Guy R. King.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Smith F. and William H. King.
