Namesake of the "Bucksnort" community before it was renamed Mimosa in 1898.

Revolutionary War Service:

Enlisted in 1779 in Lunenburg County, VA. Served for three months as Private in Capt. Jordan's Virginia militia. Enlisted in the spring of 1780 and served as Private for five months in Capt. Jesse Owen's Co., Col. John Glenn's and Richardson's Virginia regiments and was present at the "Battle of Gates' Defeat" (Battle of Camden). Enlisted in the spring of 1781 and served as Private in Capt. John Lawton's Virginia Co. for three months. He then enlisted in Capt. Blakely's Virginia Co. as Private.
