DONALD EUGENE ROBINSON, 76, of Mansfield, died Monday, April 1, 2013 at Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield following a long illness.

He was born May 8, 1936, in Mansfield, to the late Charles Edgar Robinson and Lois Winifred Willson Robinson. Donald started working at Krogers in Mansfield at age 17 and retired from Krogers in 1992 with over 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 at Fort Kobbe in the Panama Canal Zone. He then served an additional four years in the U.S. Army Reserve. Donald served as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years serving most of that time as Scoutmaster of Troop 118 in Mansfield. In 1993 he received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award given locally to an adult volunteer. He also received the Scoutmaster Award of Merit. During his tenure as Scoutmaster, he touched the lives of over a thousand boys with over fifty young men earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

He is survived by two brothers and a sister. They are Larry E. (Minerva) Robinson of Columbus, C. David Robinson of Mansfield and Sandra L. (Craig) Richardson of Mansfield. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews, Scott (Jane) Robinson of Columbus, Bryan (Marcia) Robinson of Goshen, Kentucky, Jeffrey (Theresa) Robinson of Columbus, Victoria Holbrook of Mansfield and Kathryn Richardson of Powell, Ohio; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
