In the death of Grandmother Anna Franke, which occurred at the home of her son, George, at 5:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, this community mourns the loss of an old resident. She has suffered for several years from a lingering illness due to her advanced age which finally led to her death. She was born in Kessen Kassel, Germany, Dec. 14th, 1831, while yet a young woman, she emigrated to America and settled at St. Louis, where she met and married William Franke. Soon after their marriage they moved to Quincy, Ill. In 1879 they came to Nebraska and settled on the farm where she resided until her death. Eleven children were born to this union, six of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Ana Niederhoeffer, Mrs. August Hartung, and George Franke, of this place, Adam E. and Louis, of Admah, and Mrs. Martha Sick, of Hooper. Her husband preceded her to the “Great Beyond” about twenty five years ago. Funeral services were held at the George Franke home east of town on Sunday at 11 a.m. and at the church at 12 o’clock, Rev. L. Grauenhorst officiating. Interment was made in the family lot at the Lutheran cemetery.
