William "Bill" Haskins was born in Wales, the son of John and Sarah (Beasley) Haskins.
In December 1908, he married Ada "Edith" Tomkins. "The wedding took place on Wednesday of William Haskins, youngest son of Mr. J. W. Haskins, of Llananant, and Ada Louisa Tompkins, of Wyesham. The marriage was solemnized in Wyesham Church, the Rev. J. W. Richards being the officiating clergyman. The bride and bridesmaids (Misses Violet and Lily Morgan) were attired in dresses of cream cashmere, trimmed with blue, and hats to match. The bride was given away by Mr. Tom Morgan, and Mr. T. Greenwood acted as best man. After the ceremony and also on arriving at Penalt, the couple were greeted with showers of confetti. A splendid floral arch, erected by Mr. H. Morgan, spanned the roadway. About twenty sat down to the wedding breakfast, at which Mr. Harry Morgan presided, and during the day refreshments were served to all comers."
Edith had a 3-year old son, Victor, before their marriage. Bill and Edith's first child, Molly, was born in 1910 and died soon afterward. The following year, their daughter, Kay, was born.
